Hammock read 2/3 – Very reminiscent of “Elenor Oliphant is Completely Fine”, “The Cactus” features a narrator that is (at first) very hard to like. Susan’s prickly personality has kept many people in her life a safe distance away, and I found it took me longer to warm up to her than I did Elenor. But I did find it enjoyable to watch her logic her way through the messiness that her organized life has suddenly become. 🌵
