Part of our New provincial ELA curriculum is an element, a practice, called “Language as Power and Agency”.  As well as encouraging students to examine things like bias and view point, Language as Power and Agency also asks students to use language to advocate for themselves, the environment and their community (both locally and globally) .  Here’s a link to one of my Goodreads bookshelves that focuses on rich texts to explore the practice of Power and Agency.
